Every company has a beginning, and ours started with a shared passion for engineering and innovation.
In 2003, Vladimir Polič and his two sons, Denis and Peter, founded SMT after developing a Television Audience Measurement (TAM) device for the Slovenian market, introducing advanced telemetry technology to the region. The device quickly earned recognition for its technological sophistication, compact design, and ease of installation. By offering a more advanced and practical alternative to existing solutions, it established a strong reputation in the market and became the cornerstone of SMT’s journey. Just one year later, SMT entered into a partnership with Nielsen Media Research, combining its Television Audience Measurement (TAM) technology with Nielsen’s global expertise to serve markets outside of the United States.
What began with a single product soon evolved into something much greater. Alongside its long-standing collaboration with Nielsen, SMT d.o.o. expanded its capabilities and began developing electronic products for hundreds of companies across Europe and the United States. This growth marked the beginning of SMT’s transformation from a specialist in telemetry technology into a trusted engineering and electronic manufacturing partner for a wide range of industries.

2003
The Beginning
In 2003, Vladimir Polič and his two sons, Denis and Peter Polič, founded SMT d.o.o. for the development and manufacturing of electronic and electromechanical devices.
2004
ISO 14001, 9001 & 45001
In 2004, SMT received the ISO 14001:2004 certificate for an effective environmental management system. In 2000, we SMT received the ISO 9001:2008 certificate for an effective quality management system. In 2018, SMT received the ISO 45001:2018 certificate for an Occupational Health and Safety Management System.

2023
Silver EcoVadis Sustainability Rating
In 2023, EcoVadis awarded SMT d.o.o. a Silver medal. The EcoVadis Sustainability Rating is a global B2B assessment framework that evaluates a company’s Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) management system.
